Even after several years after Windows 10's release, its automatic updating system is still a hot topic of discussion. A lot of people simply don't like it when their control is taken away from them and have updates shoved down their throats. Wu10Man aims to remedy this situation by giving you easy access to some of the operating system's hard-to-find options. It modifies certain Registry entries, disables a few services and blocks some URLs, which may not sound like much, especially for veteran users, but it gets the job done and it makes the entire process quick and simple. Apart from important security updates, the software is capable of blocking mostly all other updates, so you won't wake up with any system changes you didn't ask for.

Wu10Man is obviously intended for Windows 10, so it wouldn't make sense trying to run it on older systems. It comes in a small package, and it takes only a few seconds to install its components. The application doesn't rely on any third-party tools or services, and it doesn't use too much memory or processing power.

There are several actions you can perform, on the same compact user interface, on three different tabs. First, the application lets you modify your system's group policy so that you may get notified and prompted when updates are about to be downloaded and installed. Alternatively, you can disable updates altogether. This feature is particularly useful on Windows 10 Home edition, which doesn't allow changes to the group policy, but still lets you modify Registry entries, which Wu10Man helps you do quickly, easily and without any risks.

Certain services ensure that Windows 10 will run its updates whether you like it or not, and if you try to disable them, they will only come back online due to some automatic tasks. Fortunately, Wu10Man lets you disable all these services, including the newly-minted Windows Update Medic Service, which specifically designed to let Microsoft turn the update service back on. What's more, the software will also rename the underlying service files, to prevent them from being turned back on by any automated tasks.

Another way to circumvent the system's updating system is to block the URLs it uses to download them. There are several hosts from which Windows gets it updates, which are listed on Wu10Man's interface, along with on/off switches. Simply click these switches and the application will modify the system's hosts file to block these URLs. As a result, the operating system won't be able to retrieve its updates, even if your other measures have failed.

With Wu10Man on your computer, you can make sure the operating system won't perform any updates without your express permission.

Pros

The application does everything to prevent the operating system from running its automatic updates. It lets you modify the group policy, disable services and block URLs, all by just clicking a few switches.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to address.
